- Elastic: You will need 1 yard of 1″ wide elastic, or 1 m x 2.5 cm, for each lounge set. You will use the elastic to make the waistband for the pants and the shorts. You can buy elastic from your local craft store, online shops, or sewing supplies store. You can also use old elastic that you have at home and reuse it for your lounge sets.
- Thread: You will need thread that matches the color of your fabric, or a contrasting color if you want to create a decorative effect.
- Sewing machine: You will need a sewing machine that can sew a straight stitch and a zigzag stitch. You will use the sewing machine to sew the lounge sets.

To print and cut the free PDF pattern, follow these steps:
- Download the free PDF pattern from the link above and save it to your computer.
- Open the PDF file with a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Make sure the print settings are set to “Actual Size” or “100%” and not “Fit to Page” or “Scale to Fit”.
- Print the first page of the pattern, which contains the test square, and measure the test square with a ruler. It should measure 2 inches by 2 inches, or 5 cm by 5 cm. If it doesn’t, check your print settings and try again.
- Print the rest of the pages of the pattern, following the layout diagram.
- Cut out the test square and the margins of the pages, and tape them together, matching the symbols and the numbers.
- Cut out the pattern pieces along the lines of your chosen size, and mark the grainline, the notches, and add the seam allowance with a pen or a chalk.
