Preparing the Fabric

Fabric scraps sorted by color and texture for Halloween basket sewing project.
  1. Sort Your Scraps
Start by organizing your fabric scraps by color and texture. This helps create a cohesive look, especially if you’re using multiple colors and prints. Choose scraps in Halloween hues like black, orange, and purple to match the theme.
  2. Cut Your Fabric
For the basket walls, cut fabric pieces approximately 10″x10″ (or larger depending on how big you want your basket). Cut one for the outer fabric, one for the lining, and one for the interfacing.
  3. Iron & Prep
Before you sew, be sure to press the fabric with an iron to remove any wrinkles. This step ensures smoother, more professional-looking seams.
