Fabrics:
  • Exterior Fabric: best are heavy-duty fabric like canvas, vinyl, or denim for durability and style.
  • Lining Fabric: for the interior, which can be a lighter fabric.
  • Interfacing: fusible interfacing or fleece to provide structure and support, if using a lighter exterior fabric.

Suggested Fabric

You can create a Crossbody Fanny pack using a variety of non-stretchy heavy weight fabrics. This belt bag will need 1/2 yard of main fabric and 1/2 yard of lining fabric. If you opt for a lighter fabric, you may also need 1/2 yard of interfacing.

Seam Allowance

I suggest including an additional 1 cm | 0.4 in of seam allowance to the pattern pieces for this project. Neglecting to do so may result in a smaller crossbody fanny pack.

You can easily mark the seam allowance on your fabric using a ruler or tape measure. Another option is to utilize a seam gauge, a handy sewing tool with various markings for different seam allowances.

Adding seam allowance is crucial in sewing to guarantee that your bag matches the intended size.
